I have never played a program that feels this summery!
On July 23rd, you are invited to a concert that captures the very soul of summer—lush, colorful, and full of life.
The evening begins with Domenico Scarlatti’s Sonata K 322, followed by Mauro Giuliani’s blooming suite Choix de mes fleurs chéries, Op. 46—a fragrant and delicate journey through ten beloved flowers, from Le Myrte and La Violette to La Rose and Le Laurier. Next comes Francisco Tárrega’s butterfly La Mariposa and the morning light of Alborada. In the second half of the concert, we’ll experience a playful buzz with Emilio Pujol’s fly El Abejorro and Julio Sagreras’ hummingbird El Colibri—tiny guitar gems that capture the spirit of flying creatures in motion. This is followed by the whirlwind virtuosity of Rimsky-Korsakov’s Flight of the Bumblebee, in a personal arrangement for guitar.
The evening concludes with William Walton’s Five Bagatelles.
